Environmental Impact

As a ski racer and mountain painter, protecting our planet is critical for our future health and happiness. I’m trying to make my business as environmentally friendly as possible and so am taking steps to do so.

I want to do far more than this, so every time my products and supplies run out, I then replace them with more sustainable options.

Do let me know if you have any ideas as to how I can do better!

Packaging for prints

Printing is 100% carbon neutral and all packaging is environmentally friendly. Everything is either recyclable or biodegradable and that includes the stickers, tape, compostable bubble wrap as well as the frame edge protectors used.

Packaging for original artwork

I always reuse as much cardboard as possible, so it’s highly likely that you’ll get repurposed delivery boxes from me. I wrap paintings in paper, and use biodegradable paper tape where I can.

I reuse bubble wrap when I get my own deliveries, and only buy new bubble wrap as a last resort. I’m currently exploring biodegradable bubble wrap options.

Supplies

I’m working to source environmentally friendly canvases and paints, and am currently using up my existing stock while I do so.

Travelling

Travelling is obviously very demanding on our planet, but also necessary for our ski racing career. We therefore drive in our Euro 6 diesel van (it’s exempt from London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone as it’s as environmentally friendly as a van can be) and stay in it as much as possible. This means that our footprint is reduced; with minimal flights, we also don’t have much demand for hotels nor hire cars.

Lifestyle

We’ve also decided to not have children, which is the largest thing an individual can do for the planet. (No judgement at ALL to anyone else on this - often controversial - topic!) So instead I’m going to focus on the art and the ski racing :)
